I always liked to play with supper raw and extra fine materials. This is my latest development: burlap texture with silver leaf over.
The burlap was installed as regular wall covering, then leafed with Italian compositional silver leaf (6x6) and glazed over.

Stunning and lovely, I see the beauty of the raw and the refined Wonderful work. One question. did you use raw burlap in that does the product shrink when wet? did you preshrink?
Hi Misha,
The seams are there because it is a Wall Covering (by definition).
But, they are not so obvious because it is a marriage of Wall Covering and Faux finishes. Meaning that the burlap is installed first and Faux finishes go after that. You can ad Venetian Plaster skim coat for special effects. But only if you wish so (perhaps to cover the seams more). Anything goes!!!
Hi, I looove this silver leaf look! Is there any venetian over it first? and how do you deal with seams? I’m in Houston…thanks, Misha 281-650-0500
I also love the idea of combining raw and refined. This is a wonderful example of that! Great post.

Thanks Margaret,
Yes, the burlap was primed in the shop before installation.
